[About The Guide]
Using a Hypertext Database:
All databases use a two-tier structure: a scrollable list at the first
level with longer, more detailed descriptions at the second level.
The First Level
The first level displays a scrollable list of items. For example, in
this Hypertext Database, this level would display a list of topics
(like a table of contents) with a short description of each. You can
scroll through the list using any of the cursor keys. (Up Arrow, Dn
Arrow, Home, End, PgUp and PgDn). The items at this level are called
short entries.
Searching a Database
In addition to scrolling, a database can be searched by typing in a
string of characters. To do this,
Press ALT-S to invoke the search menu.
Enter the text that you wish to search for, and press the Enter key or
the F2 key (depends on the type of search that you want to perform). The
search is case insensitive (lower case letters are considered equal to
upper case letters). You can edit the search field by pressing Home, End
or Left or Right Arrow key before typing any characters.
Once a search is invoked, if the search text is found, the menu highlight
will reposition itself over the entry in the list that contains the spec-
ified search text, if the search text is not found, you will hear a beep
and Not Found will display in the lower right corner of the Display
Window.
Press the Gray + key to proceed to the next topic (long entry).
